My Teaching Experience

I taught for 7 years in Utah and made a change to move to Las Vegas, Nevada to work with inner city kids. Back in Utah I worked at a year-round school and I taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Moving to Vegas I was hired to teach 6th grade! They were so much fun! Then this past year I made a huge change and became an Instructional Coach. Now I get to work with teachers to improve instruction!

My Teaching Style

I'm all about getting excited and showing passion for what I teach. If I'm not passionate about it, I haven't studied it enough to make it fun for my students. I love everything hands-on and try to integrate Social Studies and Science as much as I can into classroom that is set up at a Whole Brain Teaching classroom. What is Whole Brain Teaching? My friends cringe at the 'Class-Yes' and can't stand it! It is so much more than that! WBT is five rules that set up the perfect classroom. It includes the way you organize lesson plans to be interactive when teaching things that just have to be direct instruction. It is enthusiasm plus games plus more! Don't know what I'm talking about? Go google it! There are 8 free videos that are 5 minutes long with some nutty guy who gets you so excited about teaching! That's me! That's my teaching style.

My Education

I have a Bachelors in Education from Utah Valley University (UVU)
I have an ESL Endorsement from Southern Utah University (SUU)
I have a Master's Degree in Teaching Leadership from Grand Canyon University (GCU)
I have a STEM Endorsement from Southern Utah University (SUU)
I am currently working on getting my 2nd Master's Degree in Educational Leadership

About Me

I'm obsessed with the month of October because its got my birthday, fall break, pumpkin everything, and of course HALLOWEEN and all the comes with the holiday. I knew I wanted to grow up and be a teacher in 3rd grade so it was super easy and fast for me to get through school (and I only regret the decision every time the Legislature passes a new teaching law - and what teacher doesn't??). I love taking classes and learning new things. My favorite things to do include water color, lifting weights, reading, traveling, watching TV, board games, and hanging out with friends and family. Whenever I learn something new about teaching, I get really overexcited and my students get to reap the benefits. Right now I'm obsessed with everything STEM and Science.

My favorite song: When You Were Young
My favorite band: The Killers
My favorite TV show: Pretty Little Liars
My Vice: A 32 oz drink filled with half Diet Coke and half Dr. Pepper
